Many neighbors and other interested parties have noticed the second fence on the Crown HIll Elementary property – referring to the one in the baseball outfield. There is also a large trench inside the fence. This fenced off area is the temporary location of Fire Station 35. The trucks and crew will be in the outfield until their new station is completed.
In order to maintain current service levels to the Crown Hill community, the fire station’s temporary location needed to be within 1/2 mile of its permanent home on 15th Ave NW. The available options were limited. Many locations were simply not large enough to meet the need. Several other commercial properties were ruled out because of driveway access not being compatible with fire engines. Others, were ruled out because they were in the heart of residential areas or active school zones.
We fully expect, and are planning for, the park construction crews to meet the Fire Station Crew when they pack up to move into their new fire station.
Construction of Fire Station 35 is on track. Construction of the new fire station will begin in about 30 to 40 days.
Representatives of the Fire Department will be at the Crown Hill Neighbors Annual Meeting on May 9 to discuss the construction of the new fire station and its temporary home on the Crown Hill Park ball field until construction is complete.
