6:30 PM
Ballard High School (Library)
1418 NW 65th Street

This is the proposal to replace the current Fred Meyer and Greenwood Market with a larger Fred Meyer. The proposal is quite controversial with many folk holding strong opinions on all sides, so this is your chance to get in on the ground floor.

MyBallard.com has an extensive write-up on the meeting.

(Updated July 14, 2009) The meeting is over. It was well attended, and every person who wanted to speak was allowed. Read the extensive coverage at PhinneyWood.com

  1. 🙁 I like the Fred Meyer the way it is, it’s homey and comfortable and I know exactly where everything is without having to walk a mile from one end of the store to the other.

  2. I agree with Kassy about the homey feel. Their Ballard store is so spread out, and the groceries are not very good, and the parking lot is way too big. I really like Greenwood Market too and will be very sorry to see them go. I really hope the plans can change to make it feel like a neighborhood store instead of a an excursion kind of store like the Ballard FM. And please have a space for Greenwood Market in the final plan because we really need an independent food market in the neighborhood mix.
