Crown Hill School Sale Nears Completion

MyBallard.com reported on Friday, June 26th, the sale of the Crown Hill School building to Small Faces is nearly complete. The money to effect the sale has now been received from the State (Economic Development and Trade grant) and the city. The two grants total $1.3 million dollars. The sale may close as early as Tuesday, June 30th, 2009. Thanks to all who have worked tirelessly on this acquisition (Catherine Weatbrook, Lynn Wirta, and many others). Combined with Seattle’s recent purchase of the other portion of the Crown Hill School property, this means a piece of Crown Hill’s history is protected from future development and open to community use.

This is the proposal to replace the current Fred Meyer and Greenwood Market with a larger Fred Meyer. The proposal is quite controversial with many folk holding strong opinions on all sides, so this is your chance to get in on the ground floor.

MyBallard.com has an extensive write-up on the meeting.

(Updated July 14, 2009) The meeting is over. It was well attended, and every person who wanted to speak was allowed. Read the extensive coverage at PhinneyWood.com
