Seattle’s draft Pedestrian Master Plan was released last month for public comment. The original deadline for public comment was June 15th, but that has been extended to June 26th. The plan is quite extensive and covers many aspects of pedestrian activity or lack thereof in Seattle. It was developed with input from a city-wide survey conducted in 2007, and the expert guidance of a dedicated cadre of volunteers from neighborhood activists to health professionals. The plan examines ways to get people walking more, as well as impediments to walking. Read all about it at http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/pedestrian_masterplan/ As an innovation, the plan is a web document, so nobody will drive up to your mailbox and deliver it. There is a summary which can be used as a guide to the various parts of the plan. See something you like or don’t like or got missed, get your comments in at: http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/pedestrian_masterplan/contact.htm

Gilbert and Sullivan “Utopia Limited” performance
Last Wednesday, May 29th the Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society treated us to a rehearsal of excerpts from their upcoming play “Utopia Ltd.” A little more than 100 people crowded into the gym at Small Faces to get a taste of the work in progress. What a treat! With more than 6 weeks to go to their polished performances at the Bagley Wright theater, the cast demonstrated their dedication to a stellar performance. The duets and full choir numbers were particularly good, and all cast members showed their enthusiasm and vocal skills. With such a good preview, the final performances will definitely be worth seeing. Performances will be July 10-11, 16-18, 23-25 at Bagley Wright Theater, Seattle Center. Tickets are available from the Seattle G&S Society (206) 341-9612 or www.pattersong.org
