Calling all Crown Hill Neighbors to participate in our Third Annual  CHNA Garage Sale.  The sale will be held on Saturday, July 25th from 9 AM to 3 PM. About 50 households participated last year with loads of cool stuff. Great way to meet your neighbors.

Is your house overflowing with clothes, furniture, toys, appliances, etc which could find a home with one of your neighbors or garage sale cruisers? Want an excuse to buy those 70’s bell bottom pants? Remember, one household’s junk is another’s treasure! This is your chance to buy or sell, and a wonderful opportunity to mingle with the crowds. Last year’s sale had over 50 participating selling households.

Do your kids need an excuse to set up a lemonade stand? This is a great opportunity. Last year, we had lemonade, coffee, cookies and cupcakes.

It’s definitely time to start setting your merchandise aside, and plotting joint sales with neighbors so you can take turns visiting other sales.

Questions about the sale, please contact Jen: jen@crownhillneighbors.org or (206) 898-0191.

Another Great Year!!

On Mother’s Day weekend, CHNA hosted its annual meeting. This was a time for us to gather with our neighbors, plan for the next year, and celebrate our 2nd official year – and a great year it was! The board and members have worked hard over the past year and have lots of plans for moving forward in developing a Crown Hill that is more community-oriented, sustainable, safe, and fun! Please join us in helping to shape the future of our neighborhood.

Get Involved!

We have a lot on tap for the next year and we’re looking for volunteers to help make it happen:

Support CHNA!!

Make a donation today and support community-building projects, green space development, and great neighborhood events. If you have donated in the past but haven’t done so this year, please consider renewing your support or your membership – you can even contribute on our website.

Fire Station 35 Ground-breaking, August 21st, 2009

Fire Station 35 at 8729 15th Ave NW will be demolished to make way for a brand new fire station. The building is currently home to an engine company and a “reserve engine”. It was originally built in 1920, and is in need of replacement. The citizens of Seattle passed the Fire Facilities and Emergency Response Levy in November 2003 to fund the upgrading, renovation, and replacement of 32 fire stations across the city, including Fire Station 35.  The new station will be two stories, have bays for 3 vehicles, and will be completely up to date with the latest seismic safety codes.

Crown Hill School Site Sale Complete!

This wonderful news just in from Catherine Weatbrook:

Congratulations!
Congratulations!

The former Crown Hill Elementary building officially became the property of Small Faces Child Development Center today, June 30th, 2009, just after 2pm. The Crown Hill Project team, made up of representatives of 10 different groups and non-profit organizations, worked through a three year process to secure the building, and surrounding 2+ acres for perpetual community and park use. Seattle Parks purchased the majority of the open space, influenced both by the Neighborhood Planning Process ten years ago, as well as by overwhelming community support. The building, built in 1919 and added on to in 1949, will remain home to current tenants, as well as become the new home of Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society. This dynamic community asset, set next to an up and coming park, will serve as a hub in the Crown Hill Community.

Thank you to everyone who helped during this process and we look forward to the future.

Crown Hill Project Manager

Congratulations to all who have worked so hard and long to see this through. Looking forward to a really big celebration later this summer!
